With school and activities in full swing, life is no doubt chaotic. Between getting the kids to school, taking them to sports practices, music recitals, school socials, homework, doctor’s appointments, trying to keep the house in order, and let’s not forget all the things we have to worry about for work, there is no end to the fast pace of family life. Not to mention trying to have a faith life in all of that, it almost seems impossible. But there are so many things happening around us that can draw us back to our faith and can give us a little bit of peace amongst the chaos that is our lives. These events can be something constant, such as daily or weekend Mass, Adoration, or maybe a Bible study with friends or other parents. But there are other events that are bigger that can really liven up our faith and make us on fire for Jesus again. One such event is Awaken Iowa. A family friendly event geared towards middle and high schoolers, Damascus is presenting a night of faith, community and fun. On Saturday, October 19, at the Veteran’s Memorial Building, Mass will kick off the night and will be followed by Adoration, worship, a live talk, prayer and rumor has it even a Chick-Fil-A dinner. While practicing faith can be hard and can often feel like just another box to check, it can actually lead to great community and pushes us to go outside of our comfort zone. I challenge you to think about attending with your family. If you are interested in attending, I would be happy to talk to you about it.
