I asked God for a sign of what to write about today. I did a lot of looking last week for a little inspiration, but nothing was speaking to me. Today I opened the daily reflection that is emailed to me and the title was “Stewardship of Gifts”. Well if that wasn’t a sign, I don’t know what is. I was already thinking about something to do with Stewardship because it’s that time of year again to look at how you are using your gifts and talents and think about how you can expand it. Out in the gathering space this weekend are tables with our ministries for you to take a look and see what opportunities there are for you to dive into and be a part of. There are opportunities out front, there are things behind the scenes, most of these are within our doors, but there are also many outside of them in the community. Wherever your heart lies, you should do that; but also, step outside that box, what is something else that peaks your interest? Perhaps try something new! Stewardship is the sharing of your God-given gifts and talents. I focus on using your hands and time, but the other part of stewardship is sharing your treasure. I know we have incredible people here like the woman with two coins, who give all they can. Thank you to all of you who generously give of your time, talent, and treasure. The last paragraph of the reflection really stuck with me, so I’m going to put it here and maybe it will stick with you too.
“Maybe the question for today is, how can we use our gifts like the woman who gave her last two coins back to the Lord as opposed to the religious leaders who gave barely anything of the massive wealth they had? Generosity is much more important than the physical amount, as long as we remember it is all a gift and gifts are meant to be shared.” - Tommy Shultz, diocesan.com
