Many thanks to everyone who came to our annual parish picnic last Sunday.  It was
wonderful to see so many people come on a hot day to enjoy good food and great conversations. Lots of people stepped up to bring food, serve at the tables, run the kids games, do dishes, and plan the event.  It was St. Pius X at our finest. 
 
Next weekend, please welcome Fr. Ardel Barta for our Masses while I go to cheer on the Fighting Irish.  Fr. Barta served as associate pastor here in the late 1970's and early 1980's.  He energized our music ministry and got everyone to sing, which continues today.  I did my diaconate internship with him in Webster City in 1987.  As I often tell him, he taught me everything I know about being a priest.  And I still don't know much.
