We learn in the Bible that sharing a meal together is one of the primary ways relationships are established, deepened, and enjoyed with God and others. As creatures made in God’s image, we were created for relationships, both with God and with other image-bearers. By God’s design, therefore, genuine relationships are the basis for all human flourishing. Our parish holds an event on the 2nd Tuesday of each month called Golden Age Lunch, which beautifully fulfills the purpose of fellowship with the body of Christ. This luncheon is a time for those 55 or older to enjoy food and fellowship. There are usually 60 to 70 attendees. I have had the great pleasure of helping with the Golden Age lunch. It offers life-giving conversation and shared wisdom. The room is always filled with joy and gratefulness to the Lord. The lunch menu varies; some recent meals have been Italian Beef Sandwiches, Beef Stew, and Chicken Casserole. The meal is lovingly prepared by a volunteer and salads and desserts are brought by parishioners. Volunteers help serve and clean up. After the meal, there is an opportunity to play cards or games. This gathering for a meal is an opportunity to be Christ to others and to receive Christ in conversation and fellowship. If you have never attended Golden Age please consider joining us on Dec 10.
