One of many things that impresses me about our parish is our ongoing outreach to those in need. It is not just a special collection at Thanksgiving like some do. At every weekend Mass, and every school Mass, people bring food for the poor. This connects that we are fed by the Lord in the Eucharist, so we may feed others.
It was great to see the St. Vincent de Paul truck full two weeks ago. I myself donated some clothes that no longer fit me, for some strange reason!
Metro Catholic Outreach is asking each parish to have a special month to boost the ways they can serve the least of our brothers and sisters. Our month is November, and I am confident we will rise to the challenge. I know it is easy to get compassion fatigue. I also know that the Lord says to us, "To whom much is given, much is expected." (Luke 12:48)
