In a hotly-debated study done in 2019, it found that fewer than one third of Catholics believe in Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist. Starting over a year ago, the Catholic Church in America began a conversation in response to the issues that have plagued our culture. The response is simple:‘Jesus is Present…He desires to heal, renew, and unify the Church and the world.’ Nowhere is He more Present than in the Eucharist! Despite anything that divides us, our belief in Christ’s Eucharistic Presence unites us Catholics. Starting this fall, St. Pius begins our part of this Eucharistic Revival:
· We plan to reinvigorate our worship, focusing on Christ and His Presence within the Liturgy. The Pastoral Council has created a focus group that will review and plan ways to envision this into our worship space.
· In addition to Eucharistic Adoration offered every Friday from 11am-1pm, there will be additional opportunities to adore Christ throughout the upcoming year. With enough adorers, we hope to add an additional session on Wednesday evenings (tell Tony if you’re interested).
· Everyone is encouraged to participate in deepening their understanding and appreciation of Christ in the Eucharist. We will be handing out Bishop Barron’s newest book ‘This is My Body,’ in addition to a study of the book. Starting October 5th, our monthly Wine & Wisdom will focus on different aspects of the Eucharist. The revival ends with a grand celebration on Corpus Christi (The Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ) on June 2, 2024.
The Eucharistic Revival is not just limited to those already involved! We are a missionary people, not just to be sent out, but to bring others back in to share the experience of Christ’s Presence. Let us gather as a Christian people and revive our love of the Lord!
