Nearly every day for the past 25 years I have driven from my house to St. Pius. Sometimes I take the interstate, sometimes Center Point Road, sometimes Highway 100. It depends on traffic, my mood, my need to get out of a rut, or whether I’m running late. No matter which road, eventually I arrive at church.
A similar thing can be said about each person who goes through the RCIA – or Initiation – process. There’s no single road or path to becoming Catholic. Some of us were born and raised in the faith. Some people start attending Mass because of their fiancé or spouse and decide that this is for them. Some struggle to find their spiritual home; or left as a child and are now coming back. Whatever the timeline or circumstances, we welcome and celebrate their story and their presence with us!
This year Justin, Amy, and Chris will be fully initiated into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. They’ve traveled different roads than you or me; yet, here they are. Let’s pray for them, learn their story, and thank God that their roads led them home to St. Pius X.
