Marita was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, IA and St. Pius X has felt like a second home for the majority of her life; thanks to her involvement in Music Ministry from an early age alongside her family. After graduating from Luther College with a degree in Music Management and Violin Performance, Marita felt God’s calling to move to Nashville and use her talents specifically for Worship music and songwriting. In that journey, she was able to play violin and sing with Steve Angrisano, Livingsong Worship Band, and served as a Music Minister at several Catholic churches in Nashville, Virginia, and beyond. Outside of the Worship music realm, Marita toured and performed with Irish dance shows, solo artists, Country bands and Musical Theatre productions.
Upon returning to Cedar Rapids in 2016, Marita began working full time in Arts Administration and pursued performance opportunities as a secondary job. Marita has stayed active in Catholic Church ministry throughout Cedar Rapids by playing violin and cantoring at Masses, weddings, and funerals alongside her Mother, Sue May. She was married at St. Patrick Catholic Church and has been a member at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for the past several years.
Marita is excited to be back “home” at St. Pius X alongside her family, and is eager to bring fresh ideas and continued success to our amazing Music Ministry program in this interim year.
